Bioassay Scientist II/III (Immuno-Oncology)

Cellomatics Biosciences Ltd has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Bioassay Scientist II/III (Immuno-Oncology) to join our operations in Nottingham, UK. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, collaborative team and report to the Bioassay Study Manager.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in immunology and immuno-oncology, with demonstrated expertise in developing and applying complex in vitro immuno-oncology assays to support therapeutic evaluation. This includes hands-on experience in immune cell functional assays, co-culture systems, and mechanism-of-action studies for biologics and advanced therapeutics.
You will work in a matrixed environment to design, execute, and interpret sophisticated bioassays that inform drug discovery and early clinical development strategies.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimise in vitro immuno-oncology assay platforms, including co-culture and functional immune assays
- Execute and analyse assays assessing immune cell activation, cytotoxicity, proliferation, cytokine release, and immune modulation
- Support evaluation of therapeutic modalities including antibodies, ADCs, and immune modulators
- Perform laboratory work and prepare SOPs and COSHH documentation
- Analyse, interpret, and communicate complex scientific data to internal teams and clients
- Present findings to internal and external stakeholders
- Lead method development, validation, transfer, and optimisation
- Troubleshoot experimental challenges and ensure high-quality, timely project delivery
- Prepare detailed scientific reports aligned with client requirements
- Maintain inventory of reagents and consumables
- Drive continuous improvement in assay robustness, quality, and innovation
- Support accreditation processes and client audits
- Contribute to business development activities and client interactions
- Develop training materials and mentor team members
- Support implementation of new technologies and platforms
Qualifications and Essential Skills:
- PhD in Immunology, Immuno-Oncology, or a related discipline, or MSc with at least 3 years of relevant industry/CRO experience
- Strong hands-on experience in:
-Primary human immune cell isolation and culture (e.g. PBMCs, T cells, NK cells)
-Immune cell functional assays (cytotoxicity, activation, proliferation, cytokine profiling)
-Co-culture systems (tumour–immune interactions)
-Flow cytometry and multiparametric analysis
-ADC and biologics testing (mechanism-of-action studies preferred)
-2D and 3D in vitro models
-Biochemical and molecular assays
-High-throughput screening platforms
- Proven experience working with human immune cells
- Demonstrated track record in assay development and translational model deployment
- Excellent communication and data presentation skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive, adaptable, and results-driven mindset
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Job Type: Full-time (37.5hrs per week)
Salary: Up to £36,000 per annum, depending on experience and skill set
Contract: Permanent
